13. Hawkeye Goes Ronin

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has been conspicuously absent from Infinity War's marketing, which the Russo brothers have acknowledged though been fairly coy about discussing.

They said, "We cooked up a story for him that is a little bit of a long play. Not a short play." This has sparked rumours that Hawkeye may become Ronin during the movie: his post-Civil War alter-ego in the comics, a lone-wolf who isn't part of the core Avengers team.

If the Russos are planning an epic reveal for Hawkeye's new look, then keeping him out of the marketing makes a ton of sense. As for how it affects the core narrative? One suspects Ronin will be introduced near the end of Infinity War as a set-up for a much larger role in Avengers 4.
