Avengers: Infinity War - 23 New Secrets Revealed
18. It WAS The Secret Avengers
As was revealed shortly before release, the trio of Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Sam Wilson had been performing clandestine operations since the events of Captain America: Civil War and we now know that their team had an official name, which Joe Russo all but confirms on the audio commentary:
"Obviously the Black Order are very powerful: they've got Vision on his heels, they're giving Wanda a run for her money. But what we wanted to illustrate here is that this core group of Avengers, quote unquote Secret Avengers in Falcon, Widow and Cap are hardened, tough, and work very well as a unit, and surprise the Black Order here. Get the upper hand."
It doesn't really impact the narrative too much, but it's nice to see that team mentioned. Just a shame they didn't call him Nomad even once.
17. Cap Almost Didn't Show Up Until MUCH Later
Even though Cap's appearance in the Edinburgh sequence is one of the most iconic moments in the film - and indeed the original trailer - the film-makers originally wanted to keep him out of that sequence. They all wanted his entrance to be as late in the film as possible and initially he didn't even appear until Thanos had already arrived in Wakanda. Thankfully, they binned that idea.
And part of the commentary also confirms that Captain America will have a much bigger story in Avengers 4, which makes sense since he spent so much of Infinity War as a spectator.
