Avengers: Infinity War - 8 Compelling Hints Iron Man Will Die (& 4 He Won't)
4. Any Death Is Reversible
The fact that his heart might stop in Infinity War doesn't necessarily mean this is the last we've seen of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark, because Marvel have now introduced the perfect means to undo even the most serious of events: time travel (or at least the capacity to do it).
Obviously, the rules that the Sorceror Supreme must uphold as a guardian against multiverse threats means that frivolously using time travel wouldn't be encouraged (and that's probably how they'll make sure Strange can't just travel back in time and thwart Thanos simply), but certain key things will transcend paradox concerns.
In short, this is the perfect time to kill someone like Tony Stark (or indeed any huge character for effect), because you'd get the immediate emotional impact without any of the long-term ramifications. And that would allow Tony to live out his natural arc but also fly off into the sunset with Pepper (which fans will want just as much).
