Avengers: Infinity War - 8 Compelling Hints Iron Man Will Die (& 4 He Won't)
2. Phase 4 NEEDS To Be Different
It's no accident that a huge part of the Infinity War marketing campaign has been dedicated to what comes after Avengers 4. It's been a means by which Marvel can sell the huge, unprecedented stakes at play in the double-header and selling the idea of a "wholly different" Phase 4 is a good way of hyping the next chapters of the MCU without making it seem like they have to directly compete with Phases 1-3.
But if Marvel were to hype so much difference, new worlds and new time-settings and the role James Gunn will be playing in expanding the cosmic MCU and then simply fill in the available release slots with sequels for Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Guardians Of The Galaxy, probably Ant-Man, Iron Man and a Black Widow prequel they'll be making themselves liars.
If they want difference, they need to make it different in a big way, and there's no bigger way of leaving the past behind than by killing the original pillar of the entire franchise.
