5. Iron Man

As much as Infinity War is about the Infinity Stones, it's also a continuation of Tony Stark's personal arc that started with The Avengers and his issues with PTSD and anxieties around being able to protect the universe.

We see everything that was behind his previous decisions in the MCU - his sacrifice at the end of The Avengers, why he made the Iron Legion and Ultron and why he signed the Sokovia Accords - come back again in his burning need to stop Thanos on his own terms. He's still got the same indicators of his death wish and you can see how his obsession with heroism - which has now got him wearing a new chest plate (with nano tech built in) - is going to eventually destroy him.

The end of Infinity War doubles down on Stark's guilt (which is where the emotion of Spider-Man's death really lands) and there's a big hint that he's going to be in an even darker place when Avengers 4 comes around.
