Avengers: Infinity War - What Does The Ending Really Mean?

First of all, a run through of WHAT THE F**K actually happens at the climax of Infinity War.

Thanos defeats the Avengers/Strange/Guardians on Titan and takes the Time Stone, before heading to Wakanda in the aftermath of an insanely huge battle there. The Mad Titan arrives with five Stones in his possession and sets about swatting aside Earth's Mightiest Heroes, using the Time Stone to undo Scarlet Witch destroying the Mind Stone so he himself can take it.

Thor - going full God of Thunder with new weapon Stormbreaker - seemingly defeats him. Just when you think this might have a happy ending after all, Thanos tells him that he should've gone for his head and, with the Gauntlet fully assembled, delivers the snap of his fingers we've all been dreading for the past six years.

One by one the heroes start turning to ash, leaving us with just a handful alive, including Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and Bruce Banner. It ends with Thanos sitting on a different planet watching the sunset, while the post-credits scene sees Maria Hill and Nick Fury disintegrate too, but not before sending out a distress signal.

So not much then.
