For the first time in the MCU, and in a rarity for any Disney movie, the villain wins. Although that itself isn't completely true, because this movie is his more than it is any of the Avengers', and undoubtedly he's the hero of his own story.

Regardless of labels, though, Thanos has done what everyone feared he would and hoped he wouldn't. He collected all of the Infinity Stones, clicked his fingers, and has wiped out half the universe. And given that is - *Googles 'how big is the universe'* - a total diameter of roughly 46 billion lightyears, that's a hell of a lot of life the Mad Titan just destroyed.

He can now sit on a planet, watching the sun go down and maybe finding a sense of peace at a job well done. If only it was so easy.
