How He Died

Vision has the unfortunate accolade of having died TWICE in Infinity War, first at the hand of his beloved Scarlet Witch as a sacrifice to stop Thanos getting his hands on the Mind Stone and secondly by Thanos' hand when he turned back time and took the Stone.

WHY He Died

Vision's sacrifrice and then it's reversal was very much designed to double-down on the futility of fighting against any enemy with something as powerful as the Infinity Gauntlet. That moment basically reinforced just how omnipotent Thanos had become with the Time Stone at his disposal and made Scarlet Witch's decision to kill Vision even more devastating.
