Avengers: Infinity War Will Be The Final Chapter For Some Characters

Well, that sounds ominous...

Though Marvel Studios are not exactly known for killing off multiple characters - aside from a few notable exceptions - but that might well all change when it comes to Thanos' big moment in the MCU.

His attack on the Marvel universe - and the culmination of the Infinity Stones arc - is set to be a huge deal, and will represent the perfect opportunity for Disney and Kevin Feige to start taking heads and clearing out the roster to focus on a new cast for Phase 4 and beyond.

And it seems Kevin Feige has finally confirmed that to be the case. He spoke to JoBlo during the press junkets for Spider-Man: Homecoming, where he was asked about Infinity War and what kind of stakes will be at play. Intriguingly, he was also asked if it will be the final chapter for some of the MCU's heroes. He replied, definitively, "yes".

Inevitably, fans will look at the veterans - Iron Man, Captain America, perhaps even Thor - as the characters who could come to their end. And then there are the less important figures like Hawkeye and War Machine who could easily be killed off without losing too much.

Feige continued to flirt with the future of the MCU and what might happen after Infinity War, without giving too much away:

We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so that’s all we’re thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we’ll see.

He might be holding on to vagueness as a crutch there, but there's no way everyone of the huge cast of Infinity War are making it out alive to be considered beyond the film's release. It just doesn't fit.

All we have now is speculation for who might end up on the chopping block...
