Baby Driver Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Ending Feels Too Rushed

The final 20-or-so minutes of the movie end up feeling rather rushed as Wright clearly struggles to tie up the various character arcs and plot threads, but doesn't seem totally sure how to do that.

For instance, there's a random character turn that doesn't really make much sense and is barely lingered on, and a final five minutes that Wright sprints through like the studio told him the movie was getting too long.

It ultimately tries to do too much in too little time and as such feels a little too frantic for its own good. Granted, several of Wright's films in the past have struggled with their climaxes, so this shouldn't be that surprising, but after two carefully-calibrated acts, the final third isn't quite as water-tight.

Thankfully Baby Driver is mostly a demented joy, though, and here's everything Wright got, well, right...
