Bad Education Review: 5 Ups & 1 Down
3. Excellent Pacing
With any drama built around a legitimately-interesting true story, filmmakers can often forget that the intrigue built up through that 'true story' component isn't enough to carry a film. You still need to put in the work to keep things interesting, which Bad Education manages to do through its sharp script (more on that soon) and its efficient pacing.
Bad Education never allows itself to dwell too long on any specific component, always pushing the story forward. This is a credit to director Cory Finley and editor Louise Ford who never allow you to zone out thanks to the film's great sense of energy.
If the film adopted a slower pace, much of the movie's momentum would've been diffused and that excellent ending would've felt like more of a whimper. Instead, the film ends on a strong, definitive note that perfectly punctuates everything that preceded it.
