BAFTAs 2018: 7 Ups & 6 Downs

4. Hugh Grant Doesn't Win Best Supporting Actor

Sam Rockwell won the Best Supporting Actor award for his sublime performance in Three Billboards, but considering he's practically a lock for the Oscar in a few weeks, wouldn't it have been nice to see BAFTA shirk convention and give the gong to somebody else?

BAFTA has a reputation for looking after their own, so it wouldn't have been all that surprising if the single British nominee in the category, Hugh Grant, took the award home for his hysterical performance in Paddington 2.

It would've been a great way to recognise one of 2017's very best films and break up the predictability of the night somewhat. Grant did unexpectedly fantastic work and seeing him on the BAFTA stage would've been a sight to see alright.

As it turned out, Paddington 2 sadly went home with nothing.
