BAFTAs 2018: 7 Ups & 6 Downs
1. All The Categories That Weren't Televised
Because the BBC annually forces the BAFTAs into a two-hour TV slot, a number of categories were cut for time constraints, with the likes of Best Cinematography, Best Documentary, Best Original Score, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hair, Best Editing, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Animated Film and both Best Short awards being shoved into a five-minute montage at the end of the show.
It felt like a disrespectful disservice to the talents involved, as if to say that their contributions weren't as important. Considering how much blatant filler was in the two-hour broadcast - and almost 20 minutes went by without a single award being given out at the start - there was clearly room for most if not all of these awards to make the cut.
Would it have killed the BBC to at least make the full show available for streaming on iPlayer or YouTube afterwards?
All complaints aside, though, here's everything this year's BAFTAs got right...
