Baftas 2021: All The Major Winners & Losers

7. Best Actor In A Supporting Role - Daniel Kaluuya

The Father Anthony Hopkins
Warner Bros. Pictures

In a move that shocked absolutely no one - including Daniel Kaluuya himself - Kaluuya was awarded the Bafta for Best Supporting Actor for his almost operatic performance as Black Panther chairman Fred Hampton.

Having swept up across the board, this young actor's performance is one of the few names that is guaranteed to also win at the Oscars (alongside Soul for Best Animated Film and Chloé Zhao for Best Director). The 32-year-old Brit was his usual self, full of wit and gratitude as he accepted the award and thanking first and foremost Hampton - a man who was taken before his time.

Alongside balancing the larger than life on stage personality, Kaluuya managed to capture the more reserved but equally passionate Black Panther leader off stage. Judas and the Black Messiah is - alongside being an entertaining piece of cinema - an educational story that everyone should see. And thanks to the constant recognition this electric performance is receiving, one that most people are finally waking up to.
