Batgirl Movie: 10 Directors To Replace Joss Whedon
2. Gillian Robespierre
Gillian Robespierre earned rave reviews for her 2014 indie comedy Obvious Child, and followed it up with last year's solid Landline. She's another confident voice for the stories of women, and while she hasn't got any action or set-piece experience whatsoever, her approach to comedy could probably mesh pretty well with Warner Bros.' desire for a lighter Batgirl movie.
How Likely Is It?: Robespierre essentially has the same disadvantage as Desiree Akhavan, in that the studio will probably be seeking a bigger name, but that still doesn't count her out completely.
The director hasn't talked publicly about her stance on helming a superhero movie, but while she's got a TV movie project in the works right now, there's nothing concrete that would decisively take her out of the running. Maybe, but maybe not, basically. 5/10
