Batman: 10 Best Batmobiles Outside Of The Comics

1. Michael Keaton Batmobile - Batman (1989) And Batman Returns (1992)

Even now, 31 years later, Michael Keaton's Batman is still widely considered to be the best big-screen portrayal of the Dark Knight. It's the night-and-day difference between his Bruce Wayne and Batman personas, along with the particularly gothic Tim Burton vision of Gotham city, that make his short tenure so memorable. And it didn't hurt, either, that he had a truly superlative set of wheels to get him from A to B.

The smooth, aerodynamic design is what catches the eye immediately, and the iconic jet burner and bat-wing spoilers are shown off beautifully in motion. Like others, it's also fully weaponised, with crowd dispersion rounds and small explosives that can be deposited on the ground even when the Batmobile's shields are up.

The shields in question are one of the coolest aspects of this Batmobile, voice activated by Batman using a small mouthpiece in his utility belt. Thick armoured plating appears to cover every inch of the vehicle, giving it a virtually impenetrable shell to sit in while its owner is off hero-ing across the rooftops.

Nineties Batman fans certainly didn't want for merchandise, either, as toys of this car were an extremely hot seller. Your dear writer must have collected at least three from McDonald's Happy Meals alone.
