Batman: 10 Reasons Why Tim Burton's Was The Best

2. The Voice

Batman 4 The importance of this one is on a similar level to the chin. Once again, many of you may disagree but I know that I'm not the only person on the planet who considers Batman's voice to be vital to the films! Bruce Wayne of course uses his own natural voice while speaking and therefore must disguise it at least slightly while in Batman uniform. Michael Keaton only subtly deepens his voice while suited up. It is just different enough that even if someone suspected Bruce Wayne, they might second-guess themselves because it's not quite his voice. It may not work in the real world but for a film it certainly suffices. It is most important for audiences to understand what's being said. A voice that is so dramatically disguised will often have its downfalls. Exhibit A: There is nothing that irritates me more than Christian Bale's Batman voice. I find it fundamentally cringe-worthy every single time he speaks. Not to mention that I almost never know what he's saying anyway. He is the most aggravating Batman to listen to while he tries very hard (too hard) not to reveal his identity. It's important to have a change in tone between Bruce Wayne and Batman, however it's far more important for an audience to understand what's being said!
