Batman 1989 Movie Cast - Where Are They Now?

8. Pat Hingle - Commissioner Gordon

Alongside Michael Gough, Pat Hingle is the other actor to appear in all four Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher Batman movies, playing the legendary Commissioner Gordon.

An early draft of Batman Forever would've cut Hingle's tenure short by having him be murdered by Two-Face, but this was ultimately deemed too violent for a film aimed at children.

Also like Gough, Hingle had over 150 screen credits to his name before he took the Gordon role, and was a well-respected character actor whose first-ever acting part was an uncredited cameo in the 1954 classic On the Waterfront.

Beyond Batman, he continued to work busily in TV and film throughout the '90s in the likes of The Grifters, Cheers, The Quick and the Dead, Muppets from Space, Shaft, and in his final major role, 2006's Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

Hingle remained active in the artistic community, however, creating the Pat Hingle Guest Artist Endowment to help acting students learn alongside professional actors.

He died in 2009 at the age of 84.
