For Kim Basinger, Batman remains by far the highest-grossing film of her successful career.

Throughout the '90s her more prominent roles included Wayne's World 2, The Getaway, and Prêt-à-Porter, though by the mid-90s she took a step back from acting due to both financial issues and giving birth to her daughter, Ireland.

Ill-advised investments and a costly lawsuit after backing out of the controversial 1993 film Boxing Helena left her filing for bankruptcy, ultimately settling with the studio for a stonking $3.8 million.

But Basinger enjoyed a massive career comeback in 1997, when she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her unforgettable performance as femme fatale Lynn Bracken in L.A. Confidential. This also made her the only actress in history to both win an Oscar and pose nude for Playboy.

Though Basinger has never been an actress to stuff her calendar full of projects, she has since appeared in numerous high-profile Hollywood movies, such as I Dreamed of Africa, 8 Mile, The Door in the Floor, Cellular, The Sentinel, Grudge Match, The Nice Guys, and most recently the latter two Fifty Shades movies.

Basinger hasn't acted in a major film since 2018's Fifty Shades Freed, now spending much of her time surfing, writing, and campaigning for animal rights.
