Batman 2018 Movie: 6 Influential Storylines We Want To See

1. Arkham Asylum/Arkham City

As you probably know, the Arkham series are the trilogy of Batman games developed by Rocksteady (I€™m not counting Batman: Arkham Origins, for many reasons) that redefined the licensed superhero tie in game. Part of the trilogy€™s success was the exciting mechanics and fresh combat system and part of it was the use of voice actors from the beloved Batman: The Animated Series of the 1990s, but what really set the Arkham games apart, and the first two entries in the series in particular, was their strong emphasis on story.

The joy of Arkham Asylum stems purely from trapping Batman in a confined space with almost every single one of his formidable rogues gallery. The Joker is of course masterminding our hero€™s torment and developing a super-drug named Titan.

With Batman and the Joker€™s conflict set to be established in Suicide Squad it would be easy to recreate the set up for Arkham Asylum and deliver a Batman film the likes of which has never been seen. The filmmakers wouldn€™t even have to worry too much about providing context for the villains that appear, as Batman is a more established force in the new DCU.

What€™s even more attractive is the natural progression to Arkham City, which sees a chunk of Gotham being given up to the penal system and left to rot. If DC and Warner were to adapt the Arkham games they€™d be the easiest screenplays to write ever, and would take Affleck€™s Bruce in a new direction for the character on screen.
