Batman: 75 Greatest Ever Moments

56. Batman Vs Shark - "Joker's Five-Way Revenge"

No, not that one. In Joker's grand return to his murderous roots in #251, he is hell-bent on taking out all of his former associates, with the final victim set to become shark food. Batman surrenders to the Joker in the hope of preventing the death, but it merely (inevitably) tossed into the water tank alongside the henchman and a shark, which he duly fights. And wins.

55. Batman Turns The Tables On Ra's - The Demon Lives Again

In Denny O'Neill and Neal Adams' classic, Batman is almost killed by a scorpion - only for Talia al Ghul to appear with an antidote - and his body basicalyl crowed over by Ra's al Ghul, who is duly stunned when Batman appears to have returned from the dead. Extra points for teaming the bat cowl up with a bare chest.

54. Ruling The Rooftops In Arkham City

Let€™s face it, although Asylum was a package tighter than the Batman Beyond suit, some of us longed for something more of a citywide Dark Knight experience, with the ability to listen out for any crimes in progress and swoop down to deliver swift leather-clad justice. Whilst there were a distinct lack of civilians on the streets, developer Rocksteady nailed the feeling of being Batman in Gotham perfectly elsewhere. So much so that most of us spent our time framing our own poster-style shots of him on rooftops with the moon glowing behind every five minutes.

53. The Joker's Chat Show Appearance - "The Dark Knight Returns"

When Joker comes out of his coma on the return of Batman, he appears on a chat show, and inevitably murders the entire audience, presumably just before the booking agent was fired.

52. The Empty Throne - "Death Of The Family"

At the finale of the comic book event, Batman trawls through Arkham Asylum in search of The Joker, and encounters nearly every villain from his Rogues' Gallery, before he comes across a final chamber complete with a fake JLA, and the greatest of his foes, The Penguin, Harvey Two-Face, and The Riddler.

51. Bat Dad

50. The First Arkham Reveal

We€™re all on board with the idea that the Arkham series changed everything; revolutionising the way studios can tackle comic book adaptations. It proved a character as ethereally epic in scope and portrayal across every other medium can have one of his best interpretations in the gaming realm, all the while putting the power of that concept over to you. Asylum revealed the full character model of Batman in the most perfect of ways - towering over a defeated Joker as he entered a rainswept Asylum. Immediately the glee of knowing €˜I€™m going to control this guy!€™ set in and were hooked.
