Batman: 80 Greatest Ever Moments
28. A Definitive Anthology - Legends Of The Dark Knight
It takes only a cursory glance at the Dark Knight's bibliography to understand that he's not featured in a shortage of brilliant tales. All boast varying levels of iconicity, but for longtime readers Legends of the Dark Knight might just be the greatest of them all.
Legends was a luxury title for DC when it launched in 1989 - the same year as Tim Burton's Batman. The stories were atmospheric and stood-alone, with the series itself sporting a rotating cast of creators. The likes of Dennis O'Neil, Mike Barr, Matt Wagner and Norm Breyfogle are just some of the names to have fashioned some seminal stories on this book, cementing it as one of the most successful spin-off comics in DC's history.

27. "From The First Kiss To The Last" - Batman Annual #2
Tom King's stint on Batman may have been mired by DC's decision to take him off the title prematurely, but the good news is he's still getting the chance to complete his work in a Batman/Catwoman story next year. For now, though, let's take a look at one of the best moments from his run on the Dark Knight, in Batman Annual #2.
One of the most emotional Batman moments of all time, this issue brought us to the end of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle's love story, and to an elderly Batman who is terminally ill. Selina and her daughter (who also doubles as the new Batwoman) have little time to mourn, but Bruce leaves behind one last parting gift before he passes - a black tabby cat, and a note.
"I love you too, Cat. From the first kiss to the last."
My emotions.
