Batman: 80 Greatest Ever Moments
5. "I Am The Night" - Batman: The Animated Series
Batman: The Animated Series might just be the definitive adaptation of Bob Kane and Bill Finger's comic. From the timeless depiction of Gotham to the effortless marriage between light and dark, the series embodied the Dark Knight's Bronze Age rebirth whilst imbuing it with a Fleischer Studios-esque sensibility.
There are too many incredible moments from BTAS to list off here, but for many the moment where it clicked came during Nothing to Fear, a Scarecrow themed episode that boasted one of the series' most horrifying title cards ever.
At the end of his terror, seemingly about to succumb to the effects of Crane's toxin, Kevin Conroy's Batman delivers a powerful speech that states - in no uncertain terms - that he is the night, he is vengeance. He is Batman.
