Batman Actors: Ranking The Dark Knights From Best To Worst

5. Val Kilmer (Batman Forever)

Not much can really be said about Val Kilmer's portrayal of Batman, mostly because he played Batman so..."meh" he wasn't good, but not horrible either. Now, I don't think that was completely his fault: there were a number of factors that could be attributed to this. Batman Forever was a shift in tone from the two previous Tim Burton efforts, it was more campy and fun, less dark and serious, and you can put the blame on Joel Schumacher and Akiva Goldsman's screenplay all you want, but it was Warner Bros. decision to go this way. And naturally, Val Kilmer had to follow suit. I always get the feeling that Val Kilmer was a great choice to play Batman, but he just didn't have the right material to really shine. His voice is good for the character, but he had the same problem that Adam West did in that department (more of which soon) - there just wasn't that much difference between his voice and Bruce Wayne's, and if you're trying to disguise a secret identity, that could be a problem. And the cheesy lines that he has to say as Batman don't help matters either, such as "It's the car, right? Chicks dig the car" and "I'll get drive-thru" are pretty cringeworthy. It's more the fault of the screenplay than Kilmer's, but since Kilmer has to say them, we associate them with him, and he can't get too much of a pass, because apparently he was less than nice on the set of Batman Forever.

What KC Mobley lacks in height, he makes up for in sheer passion. Especially when it comes to films and 80's heavy metal. Don't be afraid, he doesn't bite...much.
