Batman: Every Live-Action Gotham City Ranked Worst To Best

9. The DCEU

The Gotham City of the much-maligned DC Extended Universe isn't particularly bad, it's more that we don't really get to see all that much of it.

Given how Ben Affleck's Batman has yet to - and seemingly will not ever get to - star in his own Bat-flick, that means there's not been a whole bunch of time spent in the DCEU's Gotham. Large portions of Batman V Superman took place in Metropolis, whilst the Caped Crusader's role in 2016's Suicide Squad was an extremely fleeting one consisting of a brief alley fight with Deadshot and then a short mid-credits scene with Amanda Waller.

As for Justice League, both cuts of that picture spent minimal time in Gotham as Steppenwolf and his Parademons provided a truly global threat to DC's finest. Unfortunately, that means that the DCEU take on Batman's home city has to rank low down on this list.

To its credit, the gargoyles, architecture and colouring of this Gotham City look impressive. It's just a shame we haven't really had a proper opportunity to fully revel in this take on the famed locale. Then again, some fans absolutely hate this version of Gotham for the simple fact that it is located right next to Metropolis - which is something that differs from what's been seen in the pages of DC Comics over the decades.

There was at least a smidge more of Gotham showcased in 2020's Birds of Prey, of course.
