1. Choice Of Director
A crucial part of the next bat franchise will of course rely on the right man behind the camera. The last thing we need is another Schumacher 2.0 up and comer to put the bat franchise in the ground for another decade. Very careful steps will have to be taken in order for this to work. For starters if the new directors style is likened too much to Nolan's there may be sounds of approval or sounds of boredom. People may want to keep the same realistic/gritty theme of the previous installments, or people may call for something fresh i.e. bringing in some of the Batman legends more fantastical elements, without going into camp territory. I think the most likely route the studio will take in hiring a new director will be to find someone like Nolan, and I agree for the most part. It can't be denied that the gritty style suits Batman down to the ground. However, I do think that this sort of style maybe starting to get a little tiresome and repetitive. I would like to see someone brought in that would respect the fact that Batman's biggest appeal is that he is of course human, his brain and wealth being his super powers. But to completely restrict the type of people and situations Batman sometimes encounters is a bit of a disservice to the character, namely the infamous rogues gallery he has at his disposal. So of course the basic idea for a new director to take on the new franchise would be to have the brains of Nolan's world as well as not being afraid to bring in more of Batman's mythical elements. Someone capable of blending a serious story and character with elements that will be hard to keep the film from being too much to take in. Sounds easy right? This is the step I believe the next Batman franchise must take, although many do love the brains and grit of Batman in Nolan's world, we love it even more when he goes up against situations that are effectively more powerful than what he should be able to handle...and then wins anyway. From the above points I've mentioned these are some of my personal suggestions as to who would embody these elements the best: Rhian Johnson (Looper) Ben Affleck (The Town) Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) David Fincher (Seven) I resisted putting a picture of one of these at the top, only because l think all would be great choices and I'm sitting on the fence a little here forgive me.
