Batman Movie Villains: 7 Perfect Performances & 7 That Sucked

6. Talia Al Ghul - Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises)

Given how widely his vocal performance was criticised and how screwed he was by the ending, it's a strange testament of sorts that Tom Hardy's Bane is still the best villain in The Dark Knight Rises.

Part of that is because he's ultimately superseded by Talia Al Ghul's reveal, which comes late in the film, but which is so incredibly obvious (since it was leaked before release, partly) that it lacks impact. Because of the placement of the twist too, it doesn't really feel like she's given much of a chance to shine either and the wealth of comics source material behind her is wasted.

Here, she's too blunted, she's presented for the most part like too much of a "Bond girl" and her death lacks any real oomph.
