Batman Ninja Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

1. All The Over-Sexualised Female Characters

Batman Ninja Poison Ivy
Warner Bros.

Though Batman Ninja mercifully doesn't indulge in too much fan service with regard to its female characters - there are no random sex scenes, for one - it's still a shame the women featured are generally dressed in eye-rollingly revealing clothing for no real reason.

Catwoman and Harley Quinn, the film's most abundant women, tout huge, heaving chests while wearing low-plunging tops, and the brief instances Poison Ivy (pictured above) shows up, she's wearing the most hilariously impractical battle outfit solely designed to show off her chest.

While anime in general can have a pretty problematic attitude towards women, it's a shame Warner Bros. hasn't insisted upon classier guidelines for how their female characters are depicted. There's nothing inherently wrong with a sexy superhero, but maybe don't make it their most literally prominent and defining trait?

These gripes aside, there's still a lot to like in this movie. Here's everything that makes Batman Ninja worthwhile...
