Batman Ninja Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs
2. The Terrible Lip Sync
As good as the movie mostly looks, the lip sync? Not so much. Throughout the film, it appears as though the lip sync has been automatically generated by a computer program, with the mouth movements having a digital look to them that clashes with the more traditional animated style of most everything else.
Aside from looking distractingly weird, the lip sync is also infuriatingly inaccurate. Sure, anime isn't exactly known for its tight lip sync - this movie being co-produced by several Japanese animation studios - but even so, would it have killed Warner Bros. to throw a little extra cash into bringing it up to standard for a Western audience?
