Batman Ninja Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs
4. All The Insane Action Sequences
Nobody will complain that Batman Ninja doesn't feature enough action, and as stated earlier, there's so much fighting here you may end up feeling a little worn out by it.
There's Batman fighting The Joker's samurai army in a forest, the Batmobile taking on a giant robot temple piloted by The Joker, Bane (as a sumo wrestler) fighting the Caped Crusader in Bat-Armour, a shootout on a boat...and that's just the first half-hour of the movie.
No spoilers for what follows, but needless to say, the action goes to some insane places you won't see coming, both paying homage to Japanese culture in all its forms and pretty much going full Michael Bay by the time the finale rolls around.
That there's still a real weight to most of the fighting, even in its silliest moments, is yet another testament to the animation. Batman has never been realised with such deranged inspiration on screen before, and as long as you weren't hoping for a grounded tale of Batman hanging out in Japan, there's a lot of fun to be had here.
