Batman Ninja Review: 5 Ups & 4 Downs

3. The Imaginative Character Designs

Batman Ninja
Warner Bros.

It's little surprise that this film has some of DC animation's best recent character designs considering that Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki served as the lead character designer.

In conjunction with the general animation style, the character designs are by far the most alluring and enticing aspect, from Batman's multitude of samurai-inspired get-ups, to The Joker's awesome feudal design, Bane resembling a sumo wrestler, and countless cameos from legendary DC heroes and villains whose identities and redesigns are best left unspoiled.

While the designs might play with stereotypes a little too eagerly for some, they're a total far cry from the norm, and further ensure that Batman Ninja feels like a total breath of fresh air.
