Batman Reboot: 10 Essential Villains And Who Should Play Them

8. Victor Zsasz - Ben Foster

Ben-Foster-600x300 Victor Zsasz was a wealthy man who simply grew bored and tired of life. He felt his existence was meaningless. He eventually lost his fortune and this greatly reinforced the idea of emptiness. Like him, he felt everyone else was living a worthless and useless life. He sought to liberate them from that by giving them death. He would kill only with a knife and tally his body for every person killed. A villain such a Zsasz poses a great threat to Batman. How do you stop a killer who chooses his victims at random? The victim could be anyone. Zsasz is an unhinged, emotionless, and disturbing rogue. His unpredictability is his greatest weapon. To play him? Ben Foster is a young accomplished actor who could do it right. I view Zsasz as possibly being a major enemy of Batman. A secondary type of villain as Scarecrow was to Ra€™s Al Ghul in Batman Begins. That€™s enough screen time to feel Foster€™s presence. Initially, I felt Foster would€™ve been a great Joker, and I still believe he would be good in that part. But I discovered another actor (you€™ll see later in this article) who could put a different spin on the character. Because of that, I moved Foster towards Zsasz. Foster was terrific in 3:10 to Yuma where he portrayed Charlie Prince, a callous and vile killer. In Alpha Dog he played a drug addict criminal; a performance he threw himself into by adding glaucoma drops to his eyes to gain the appearance of a drug addict. He has no problem acting or getting into a character. He€™s not foreign to comic book films as he€™s appeared in The Punisher and X-Men: The Last Stand.
