5. The Riddler Played By David Tennant
Yes, as the first pick of this list, I chose a villain that was ruined, and had the potential to be brought back for the Nolan universe, but was dropped in favor of Bane. The Riddler would be a great villain to start off with as he is not big enough to be seen as the arch- nemesis of Batman, but he is a good enough villain to draw in a crowd. But, I think I speak for all of us when I say we don't want to see a rehash of Jim Carrey's over the top portrayal of the character from Batman Forever, and most definitely no Riddler tights. Don't get me wrong, I love Jim Carrey as an actor, but I didn't like his take on the Riddler, because it was just The Joker in green tights. If they do introduce The Riddler in the Batman reboot as the main antagonist, he should be written similarly to how the Arkham video game series has presented the character. Give him a suit, his cane, and make his intelligence a genuine threat: imagine him as a Zodiac style serial killer who leaves riddles at every crime, aimed squarely at Batman. This could add a thriller aspect to the Batman reboot, and give the new film-maker the opportunity to swerve direct comparisons with Nolan's trilogy. As for who should play The Riddler, my choice is David Tennant. Johnny Depp was of course linked to the role in The Dark Knight Rises before Bane was chosen, but whilst he is a great actor, the studio would do best to not waste half it's budget on hiring Depp. David Tennant has a perfect build and look for the character, and he has psychotic previous thanks to his performance as Barty Crouch Jnr in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. He also has an established fanbase, which the studio could use to their advantage.
