And finally, the real triumph of The Return of the Caped Crusaders is that, against huge odds, it's the most satisfying, consistent and entertaining Batman movie of the year.

Batman v Superman was a let-down (even if Ben Affleck's Batman was the sure highlight), Suicide Squad underwhelmed, and The Killing Joke trampled over the source material, but far away from those three, here's a film that respects the source material and knows exactly what it wants to be, delivering accordingly.

Hell, if you factor in other non-theatrical Batman movies released this year, such as Batman: Bad Blood, Justice League vs. Teen Titans and Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants, it's even more impressive that this stands at the very top of the pile.
