Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders Review - 6 Ups And 4 Downs

2. Batman Is An A**hole For Half The Movie

At the end of the first act, Batman is infected with a "Batnip" concoction from Catwoman that, well, turns Batman into a total a**hole. He fires Alfred, wants to actually murder super-villains, chews out Aunt Harriet, doesn't answer the Batphone (causing the crime-rate to sky-rocket), forces Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara to strip, and replaces almost the entire Gotham City infrastructure with clones of himself, using the special weapon the bad guys want so badly, the Replicator Ray.

While it's definitely enjoyable to a point to see Batman as a bad guy, the fact that he's a douchebag for over half the movie kinda over-extends its appeal, as surely most fans wanted the movie to revel in the camaraderie between West and Ward's intrepid heroes.

It doesn't sink the movie as such, but it's a plot point that goes on far longer than it really has to.
