Batman: The Killing Joke Review - 5 Ups And 6 Downs

3. Solid Action Sequences

Say what you will about the film, but it sure knows how to handle the action, especially the close-quarters combat as Batgirl and Batman take on various thugs as well as, of course, each other.

The car chase near the start of the movie may set a bad precedent with its janky animation style, but director Sam Liu clearly has a much firmer handle on the human action, which is largely up to the standard you'd expect from generally superior Batman animated movies.

The acrobatic nature of the combat combines with some strong shot selections to frame the fighting in a balletic but brutal fashion, and are easily a major highlight of the film.
