2. The Dark Knight Returns Homages

Zack Snyder has already confirmed that Batman V Superman is inspired by Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns rather than an adaptation of it. However, it will hopefully still be packed full of references to the classic story, whether it's characters, moments, or just a few lines of dialogue. Rumour has it that Carrie Kelly will be included in the film, while Jim Gordon may not be Commissioner of Police, with Ellen Yindel taking over that role just like in the comic. As this movie is just the beginning for Batman in the DC Cinematic Universe, seeing him fake his death is highly unlikely. The Joker's role is also likely being saved for Batman's solo movie, while mutants and nuclear weapons might not fit in that well either. However, one particularly cool addition would be a cameo from Green Arrow (he helps Batman take down Superman in TDKR). Sadly, he probably won't be played by Arrow's Stephen Amell...
