Batman V Superman: 10 Theories About Lex Luthor

8. He's A Kryptonian

In the comics, Lex Luthor and his son Lex Luthor Jnr €“ of which Jesse Eisenberg is playing the latter incarnation €“ are both humans. Lex€™s power traditional comes from his villainy, his business smarts, and sometimes a big robotic suit invented to even the odds in his many battles against Superman. In Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, though, all of that could change. According to one fan theory, Zack Snyder€™s latest superhero movie could resurrect an idea from J.J. Abrams€™ unproduced script Superman: Flyby. Therein, a UFO-obsessed Lex Luthor was later revealed to be a Kryptonian. There are a few ways to incorporate this idea into Batman V Superman. Although it would mean ignoring a few prequel comics, perhaps the open pod in the giant Kryptonian spaceship Clark found was actually once home to a young Lex, who was adopted by Lex Snr in his youth. Even if the powers that be are saving that pod for something else, it wouldn€™t take long within the film to weave in a unique backstory for Jesse Eisenberg€™s Lex. This one sounds surprisingly plausible. Giving Lex Kryptonian abilities would make for a fairer fight in the third act, after all, as well as injecting a big twist reveal into the movie. We've looked at this theory in more detail, here.
