Batman V Superman: 10 Theories About Lex Luthor

6. His Hyperactive Tendencies Are An Act

In the trailers, we€™ve seen Lex Luthor played in a very Jesse Eisenberg-y way. Clearly, The Social Network star was asked to bring some of those manic, hyperactive tendencies from his memorable Mark Zuckerberg biopic role to the part of Lex. However, perhaps this is just an act. Maybe Lex acts in this awkward, unsettled way to distract other characters from his true intentions. Maybe, we€™re being led to believe that Lex Luthor is a familiar sort of character (essentially an evil twist on the social media magnate Zuckerberg), in order to throw us off the scent of what he€™s really like. Underneath this hyperactive exterior, there could well be a cold and calculating character underneath. This, at the very least, would allow Eisenberg to try something that we haven€™t seen him attempt before. That wouldn€™t be unwelcome, by any stretch of the imagination. Presumably, whether or not this theory ends up being true depends on how the movie plays Lex€™s villains origins. If he€™s a business wonder-kid who suddenly turns evil, it seems unlikely that he€™d have a secret second personality ready made. But if Lex has always been a villain, perhaps the Zuckerberg-esque behaviour is just a front?
