Batman V Superman: 10 Theories About Lex Luthor

5. He's Working For Darkseid (Or Similar)

So far, one thing that the DC Extended Universe lacks is an equivalent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe€™s big bad Thanos €“ a lurking threat in the background to help the overarching arc of the shared universe along. Every time Thanos pops up €“ even for a seconds-long post credits sting - the internet explodes in reaction. DC, surely, will want to get in on that. The easiest way to achieve this would be for DC Entertainment/Warner Bros to bring in their own massive supervillain. Darkseid €“ a godlike creature from the comics, who constantly threatens to destroy planets and take over the universe - seems like a logical choice. In the comics, Darkseid predated Thanos and actually inspired his creation. As Lex Luthor is the most prominent villain in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, the easiest way to introduce Darkseid €“ or another overarching baddie €“ would be to reveal that Lex is in their employ. Maybe that€™s how Lex gets hold of Kryptonite, learns about Zod€™s corpse and manages to create his big grey monster. Should this turn out to be the case, it wouldn't be unprecedented - it€™d be a similar arrangement to Loki working as Thanos€™ lackey in The Avengers, or Ronan doing his bidding in Guardians Of The Galaxy. So maybe don't rule out a Darkseid-unveiling credits sting just yet.
