The Rumour: After Scoot McNairy was spotted wearing knee-high green screen socks on set, word spread that he could be playing a number of iconic characters, including the villainous Metallo (metal legs?), Jimmy Olsen or Dick Grayson with prosthetic legs after being injured in the Zod-Superman fight, or even The Flash (the socks being used for his fast-moving visuals).

How Much We Believed It: To be fair, they were all at least semi-plausible possibilities, and when you throw enough of these rumours around, at least some of them are going to stick. Olsen was by far the most believable, and it just seemed like a solid fit for McNairy. 8/10

The Truth: Of course, McNairy ended up playing an original creation for the movie, a Wayne Enterprises employee named Wallace Keefe who loses his legs in the Man of Steel conclusion and gets manipulated by Lex Luthor into suicide bombing the congressional hearing. It's kind of a shame an actor of McNairy's caliber had such a pointless role, really.

As for the aforementioned characters? Grayson and Metallo were no-shows, Jimmy Olsen is played by Michael Cassidy and gets killed off in the movie's first 15 minutes, and of course, Ezra Miller was The Flash.
