Batman V Superman: 3 Reasons Why The Trailer Teaser Sucks (And 1 Why It's Awesome)

And The Single Good Thing:

1. It's Bringing The Focus Back To The Vs. Part

One of the biggest problems with Batman V Superman as a whole (once you get past those underlying creative issues) is that, despite being conceived as such, the movie it's evolved into isn't really just a smackdown between the two most iconic comic book heroes. Wonder Woman plays a key part, Aquaman has a cameo and odds are so will The Flash and Cyborg too; if the Dawn Of Justice subtitle didn't fill you in, this is as much a Justice League prequel as it is an attempt to make a good Superman movie by throwing Batman in. In fact, based on the synopsis it looks like the BvS part of Batman V Superman will be over by the end of the second act, with a bigger foe turning up to force the pair to become World's Finest come the end. I can see why - it's easier to insert a villain for the heroes to fight than it is risk a carefully branded character becoming unlikeable (something Captain America: Civil War also seems aware of) - but for the film itself it makes for a more tepid prospect. And so it's nice to see the film's marketing focus wholeheartedly on just the fight - this clip may be a dream sequence and it may have boast some needless Snyderisms and it may be a cynical tease, but at least it's putting the focus on, y'know, Batman versus Superman.
