4. The Death Of Superman

When Superman falls in battle after killing Doomsday with the Kryptonite sceptre (having somehow resisted its power to still fly at his enemy), his prone body is almost exactly positioned as it was in the Death of Superman comic event. When Superman flies Doomsday into space, it's another moment from the comic arc. In the case of that comic also, Superman and Doomsday actually killed each other with a simultaneous blow. The sight of both lying dead is also hugely evocative of the same panels, and so too is the image of Lois Lane crying over Superman's dead body. His inevitable revival - hinted at by the moving earth on his coffin - also calls back to the Death Of Superman, in which it is revealed that he merely went into a special Kryptonian healing sleep rather than actually dying.
