So Darkseid is coming, then. The writing that sets up the villain's impending arrival in the franchise is utterly woeful (it makes no sense that they're careening towards the future Batman dreamt because he's no longer fighting Superman, and there's literally NO precedent to Darkseid even existing), but, he's coming nonetheless. Reasonably, he was the only real threat who could out-evil Doomsday and bring the Justice League together, and if the logo in the Knightmare sequence and the Parademons weren't big enough indications, Luthor's chilling threat of a bigger enemy being awoken to Earths' threat was basically the icing on the cake.
