Here it is, then: the main reason as to why Batman v Superman is doomed to fail. And it's all to do with the levels of hype associated with the movie; the good hype and the bad hype, all coming together to create an unreasonable set of expectations which will destroy the movie and everything it stands for, regardless of its quality, because audiences in this day and age are unable to just enjoy something for what it is. There's a real sense that, unless Batman v Superman emerges as something akin to a genuine, bonafide masterpiece, however, it will be picked apart until there's nothing left. Everything, from the acting, to the story, to the overuse of CGI (do you expect anything less from Snyder?) is going to be scrutinised all out of proportion. It doesn't matter how good Ben Affleck is at being Batman - regardless, the hype is too much for him to compete with. And it's a shame, really, because - for all the criticisms that have been banded about - Warner Bros. have at least tried to do something different. From the weird casting choices to hiring the screenwriter of Argo, you have to admire them at little. Unfortunately, Batman v Superman has arrived at a time when audiences punish studios for taking risks. How could anyone expect the movie to do anything but fail? Like this article? Agree or disagree?
