The cornerstone of the epic fan theory is that Christian Bale will eventually show up in the movie as the real Batman, who returns upon learning that The Joker is really John Blake aka Robin - from The Dark Knight Rises. Christian Bale was offered insane money to come back for future Batman movies, but he turned them all down as he felt the story had been told. The theory thinks he secretly accepted the offer and has been filming his role in secret, which will be the ultimate surprise for the fans. It would be an amazing surprise but it will never, ever, ever happen. Ben Affleck has been confirmed as playing Bruce Wayne/Batman for multiple movies, so how could another Bruce Wayne exist in that world? As well as that Bale would only return for Nolan, who isnt involved in any way, shape or form with the movie. The final word rests with Bale himself, who dismissed the idea when it was brought up to him in an interview: I think its pretty clear that Ben (Affleck) is playing Batman now.
