21. Enemies' Eyes Lock

We've seen the sequence of Superman trashing the Batmobile in full, as well as heard the Lex Luthor voice-over about this being "the greatest gladiator match in the history of the world" before, but that doesn't mean we don't learn anything new about this scene from the trailer (which dominates the mid-portion). We get that shot of Superman staring at the car as it swings towards him...

...but then we cut to Batman inside, who seems almost caught in his foe's stare. Is this what causes the crash? And are we actually seeing the two mythic figures come up against each other for the first time?
