6. Lex Luthor Has Kryptonite
The Rumour: Lex Luthor has somehow acquired a large amount of kryptonite. At some point, Batman will break into LexCorp to steal some of it in order to fight Superman.
What It Means For The Movie: Obviously it means that the very human Lex Luthor has a means of defeating the godly Superman. How he got the kryptonite and what he knows about it are still unknown, but it still offers many possibilities. It could be hidden in his hand when he makes Superman kneel in the trailer and it could similarly be used to power any number of weapons or armour for Luthor. Conversely, its radiation could also be the reason that Lex loses his hair.
But Lex isn’t the only one who’s going to need it. If Batman does in fact steal some of that kryptonite, it explains how he’s able to stand up to the man of steel and hold his own in a fight. It also shows off Batman’s abilitym if he really is capable of breaking into the heavily-fortified LexCorp.
Beyond servicing the character, the presence of kryptonite also likely means the further exploration of Kryptonian mythology. The opening to Man Of Steel offered an incredibly fascinating world and with kryptonite having obvious ties to the planet, it guarantees some more exploration of the subject.
