Batman V Superman: Predicting The 10 Biggest Criticisms
2. It's Too Long
An inevitable by-product of its narrative busyness is that the film is probably going to be very, very long. With all the content that needs to be crammed in, it'd be pretty shocking if Batman V Superman ran shorter than 150-160 minutes, which will itself likely be a point of contention for critics. Sure, The Dark Knight Rises proved that a comic book movie could run to an epic length and still garner critical acclaim, and in fairness, Snyder's own Watchmen was 162 minutes long and still scored broadly solid reviews, but they're mostly the outliers here. Comic book films have been becoming increasingly bloated over the last few years, with 140-minute-plus run-times now being the norm, and short of some real editing magic, Bats v Supes seems unlikely to buck the trend. Yes, it could be 3 hours long and riveting for every minute, but it also seems pretty likely that it'll end up feeling too bloated.
