Batman Vs. Superman: 10 Actors Who Could Play The Joker

9. Ben Mendelsohn

Ben Mendelsohn is one of those actors who is inherently unnerving to watch on screen. Even if he's playing a good guy (or as close to a good guy as Hollywood will let him, like in The Place Beyond The Pines), there's something "not right" about the way he holds himself. Like he hit his head on a tree trunk one day, woke up, and never quite went back to normal (if you're reading this and that's really what happened, Ben, please accept my apologies - you're awesome). Still, when he's on screen, he automatically seems to generate a sense of tension - almost without doing anything. Such qualities are hard to fake, of course, so if an actor manages to create an uncomfortable atmosphere in a natural kind of way, he's well on the path to encapsulating one of the Joker's defining qualities. Witness Mendelsohn's performance in Killing Them Softly, for example (he steals the entire film), and you'll see exactly what we mean: a believable anarchist for sure, and, hey... what an interesting left-field choice!
